Truth about Menopause

We’ve all heard about the stories of a woman having a hot flash and fanning herself furiously.  It is probably one of the most common images that come to mind when we think about menopause. But what if we told you your menopausal experience didn’t have to be like that?

The truth is the transition to menopause isn’t just going to hit one day.  You will likely start to notice some changes in your body well before you start menopause.

Some typical symptoms you may experience are:

  • Unexplained weight gain that is hard to lose no matter how hard you workout, especially in the abdominal area

  • Thinning hair

  • Bruise more easily

  • Fatigue

  • Brain fog

  • Moodiness or irritability

  • Joint pain

  • Dry skin

  • Vaginal dryness

  • Increase in UTIs

  • Painful sex

  • Loss of libido

  • Night sweats

Do any of these symptoms sound familiar?

While these can all be signs and symptoms of other conditions, they can also be normal symptoms your body will experience with menopause. If you are experiencing any of the symptoms listed it is important to talk to your naturopath. There is a lot of confusing information out there, so at Greystones Health we want to help guide you on the path to a healthy transition into menopause. It is never too late (or too early) to consider lifestyle factors that can help reduce symptoms and keep you feeling great.

Each woman will experience menopause in a different way, so what that means is a “one size fits all” type of treatment plan is not going to work for everyone. This is why our initial appointment is so long and detailed – we want to get to know you, how you’re feeling, and what you’re experiencing so we know how to support your health.

There are many factors that can influence our hormonal health such as sleep, stress, diet, exercise, and mental health. We see these as the pillars for great health. And that doesn’t change for hormonal support. With diet and lifestyle recommendations, and supplement support where needed, we can help address your symptoms and guide you toward a healthy menopausal experience. We can help to balance your estrogen and progesterone levels, and identify any hormonal imbalance through bloodwork, and target hormone support through natural herbs and natural products. We create a plan to make sure you stay hormonally healthy but also healthy for the long term in all aspects of your life.
